Genshin Impact version 4.5: Should you pull for Neuvillette, Kazuha, and their signature weapons?

The second half of Genshin Impact version 4.5 boasts the reruns of powerhouse characters Neuvillette and Kaedehara Kazuha, making it one of the best banner rerun combos the game has released to date.

Now, we're pretty sure that you're here because you're conflicted as to who to wish for. Truly, it's a difficult decision if you still don't have Neuvillette or Kazuha in your roster.

Neuvillette is one of the most broken DPS characters that Genshin Impact has released so far, capable of unleashing devastating Hydro DMG that washes away all opposition. Meanwhile, Kazuha is the premier support for all teams reliant on elemental DMG, making him a must-have character for many of the metagame's top teams.

So, who between Neuvillette or Kazuha should you pull for? What about their signature weapons? Read on to find out!

Need a devastatingly powerful Hydro DPS? Get Neuvillette

Neuvillette boasts a powerful kit centred on his Charged Attack, which lets him unleash a powerful torrent of water in front of him to wipe the battlefield clean at the cost of his own HP. His skill, burst, and passive talents help him maintain a constant barrage while giving him additional sources of damage.

Neuvillette's primary source of damage is his enhanced Charged Attack, which deals continuous area-of-effect Hydro DMG in a straight-line area in front of him for 3 seconds. If Neuvillette's current HP is above 50% of his maximum, then he will continuously lose HP while using his Charged Attack. The speed needed for Neuvillette to rev up his water cannon depends on the amount of Sourcewater droplets available onfield.

Neuvillette's skill lets him deal area-of-effect Hydro DMG based on his Max HP to enemies in front of him. If the skill hits an opponent, then it will also create 3 Sourcewater Droplets so he can use his Charged Attack faster.

Absorbing those 3 Sourcewater Droplets will heal Neuvillette and, more importantly, let him instantly unleash his Charged Attack without having to charge up.

Neuvillette's burst lets him unleash three powerful waves that deal Hydro DMG in a large area. This ability will unleash one huge initial wave and then two smaller ones after a short interval that affect a smaller area. In addition, it will also create 6 Sourcewater Droplets to let Neuvillette use his Charged Attack.

Since Neuvillette's damage scales with his HP, it makes him relatively easier to build compared to other DPS characters. While his best-in-slot artifact set is the undoubtedly the 4-piece Marechaussee Hunter, you can get a 4-piece Heart of Depth set from the Artifact Strongbox while you farm.

As for Neuvillette's artifact main stat setup, go with a HP% Sands, Hydro DMG Bonus Goblet, and a Crit Rate/DMG Circlet. Getting HP substat rolls also aren't a waste with him and are very much welcome.

He also has plenty of good weapon options if you aren't planning on getting his signature, Tome of the Eternal Flow, though he still needs it to reach full potential. If you've ever lost the 50/50 in the weapon banner to, say, the Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds or the Skyward Atlas, then Neuvillette can make good use of those.

Finally, Neuvillette being a Hydro character lets you mix-and-match different teams and elemental combos depending on which enemies you're facing.

Up against fast-moving enemies? Pair Neuvillette with a Cryo character to freeze them in place while he devastates them with his Charged Attack. Need more firepower? Put Pyro or Electro characters in Neuvillette's team to make use of the powerful Vaporize and Electro-Charged reactions. Need tons of single-target damage? Neuvillette is a good driver for a Hyperbloom lineup.

Heck, as long as your enemy isn't immune to Hydro DMG, then you can rest assured that they will stand little chance against Neuvillette.

Want to boost your teams beyond the limit? Get Kazuha

Look, it's no secret that Kazuha is one of Genshin Impact's most beloved characters in terms of the metagame. He's basically the unsung unofficial Anemo Archon in our eyes. Besides being such a chill character, he's also one of, if not THE best support you can have in your character roster.

Kazuha's strong and versatile kit that lets him greatly empower the elemental damage of your party, making him a must-have in many Hypercarry and elemental reactions-based teams, while also dishing out good damage of his own.

What makes Kazuha such a great character is his A4 passive, which grants a party-wide Elemental DMG bonus to the element that he triggers the Swirl reaction with that scales off his Elemental Mastery.

When Kazuha has, say, 1,000 Elemental Mastery, he provides a whopping 40% Elemental DMG bonus. When combined with the 4-piece set bonus of the Viridescent Venerer set, which decreases the Elemental RES of enemies to the element being Swirled, Kazuha provides a massive damage boost that is virtually unmatched by any other character in the game.

Not only that, Kazuha’s Elemental DMG bonus can be triggered for multiple elements. When played right in a team with one or two synergistic elements (Pyro and Hydro for Vaporize, for example), Kazuha can exponentially boost your team’s damage output.

Those insane damage buffs makes Kazuha a must-have for Hypercarry teams that are focused on empowering a single character's damage as much as possible. DPS characters like Raiden Shogun and even Neuvillette.

So if you have Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro characters that you feel aren’t hitting hard enough, slot Kazuha into their teams and you’ll soon see them destroy whatever enemies stand in their way.

With that said, Kazuha can only really be used in teams with the aforementioned elements and won’t have a place in Dendro, Geo, or Physical teams. But that’s hardly a knock against him, as those have their own ways to boost damage.

If you’re still looking for more reasons why Kazuha is a great pull, then he’s also very easy to build. Not really needing that much investment on the (ahem) monetary side because he can already be great even with just the craftable 4-star sword Iron Sting or the gacha weapon Xiphos' Moonlight.

As for Kazuha’s artifacts, you only need to get the aforementioned 4-piece Viridescent Venerer set and you won’t need to worry about getting Crit substats (though they are nice to have). Since Kazuha’s Elemental DMG bonus scales off his Elemental Mastery, you just need to get Elemental Mastery main stats on your sands, goblet, and circlet.

If you feel like your elemental hypercarry teams are lacking that last bit of damage you need to comfortably clear endgame content like the Spiral Abyss, then get Kazuha and he will make even the most difficult of encounters feel like a breeze.

What about their weapons?

If you have both Neuvillette and Kazuha but not their signature weapons, then the weapon banner, which will feature their signatures: the 5-star Catalyst Tome of the Eternal Flow and the 5-star sword Freedom-Sworn are both weapons you don't want to pass on if you can afford them. It's basically a banner where you technically won't lose.

Tome of the Eternal Flow ascends with Crit DMG and has a passive that increases Neuvillette's HP even further, as well as increasing his Charged ATK DMG every time his HP increases or decreases, which can stack up to 3 times. Having maximum stacks will give Neuvillete 8-12 energy particles.

Freedom-Sworn ascends with Elemental Mastery, and its passive depends on the stacking of Sigil of Rebellion, which is an effect that when reaching its maximum stack of 2 will increase all Normal, Charged, and Plunging ATK DMG by 16-32%, as well as ATK by 20-40%.

Both of these weapons will be extremely beneficial, and if you end up getting one or the other (or even both) then you can consider those Primogems you used well spent!

Genshin Impact version 4.5 dropped on 13 March and will see the release of a new 5-star character in Chiori, reruns for the 5-star characters Arataki Itto, Neuvillette, and Kaedehara Kazuha, as well as the new Chronicled Wish banner system.

After version 4.5 comes version 4.6 in April, which will see the long-awaited debut of the fan-favourite Fatui Harbinger Arlecchino as a playable character.
